Today, I am sharing my review of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson. Mmm this
Famous Quote Of the Book
“Because I wasn’t there to save Andie. But maybe Andie was there to save me.”
Synopsis Of A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder
Five years ago, the popular high school senior Andie Bell got murdered in a small, quiet town located in Fairview. Her boyfriend, Sal Singh was suspected to be the killer.
Everyone in the town and the police knows he did it because of his character. Later on, the case was closed and everyone in the town was suspicious of each other.
But, Pip Fitz-Amobi (A high school senior) did not believe this story because she had known Sal Singh since childhood. He was a nice person. She couldn’t accept him as a murderer.
In her senior school project pip decided to solve this mystery and committed to find the real killer. When she got more involved in this case, she realized that someone in the town would do anything to keep the truth hidden.
Theme Of A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder
The concept of this book relies between what everyone thinks and what actually is. Everyone in the town thinks Sal is a killer even if the facts didn’t support it.
On the other hand pip’s story is all about questioning the popular and visible truths and showing that truth can not different from what people thinks.
The theme of this book relies between justice, finding the truth, and how far people will go to keep a secret hidden. It would make you think about what is right and wrong.
Why I Decided to Read this Book
I’d been seeing this book everywhere. It was on all the “must-read” lists and had glowing reviews from so many people I trust.
I decided to read this book because of its true crime podcasts, and the unique story with pip’s school project of detective reopening of old case in a small town felt classic.
I was curious If I could solve the mystery before pip or not.
My Personal Review On A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder
The Book gained my attention from the very first page. Pip’s notes, records of interviews, and text messages make me feel that I am solving a mystery alongside her.
The way of telling the story is very clever because it lets you see all the evidence Pip collects. The overall story is well structured because there were new secrets and plot twists appear on every page. I kept reading very fast because I could not put the book down.
Pip is a brilliant, smart, determined main character. Her teamwork with Ravi Singh, Sal’s brother, is a highlight. Their relationship has the perfect balance of funny, lighthearted conversations and deep, true friendship.
The book created many moments where I was extremely tense and excited. The end of the story was unexpected. I never guessed how it would finish!
It is a kind of story where your mind forces you to keep guessing till the last chapter, and you’ll feel great when you solve the actual puzzle.
